Have I accidentally stumbled across the perfect job?

A little while ago I took on a new client, Paddock Farm.

At the time it seemed a relatively innocent move and I attacked the role with my usual vigor. This was quickly responded to with a range of changes, but not least of all, I now run the online wing of the hugely popular nursery, garden centre and water gardens, paddockfarm.co.uk!

So why is this so perfect [for me]?

Well, there are some obvious reasons...
  1. I get to sit in an office which over looks a huge tourist attraction that people travel miles to come look at. I don't know if this will grow old, but it hasn't yet
  2. I get work outside, or inside, as much as my heart desires. If it's a nice day, I move my whole working environment outside, there's not many who can do that, surely?
  3. I have the perfect blend of indoor 'typing away with the radio on' and outdoor manual labour.
I should not ignore the fact that some of my day is spent, let's be honest, playing on Twitter and Facebook...you can dress it up as 'social networking', 'viral marketing' etc. but come on...it's fun!

There's also a company uniform (those of you who know me IRL will already be aware of my deep affection for corporate branding), so when I get dressed for work, it's like I'm going out hiking (one of my other favourite past times).

The other reason, and this is slightly weird. There's something deeply satisfying about offering a good service. Knowing that we're cheaper, faster, stronger, better...we have the technology...sorry, that's the bionic man - but cheaper and faster at least.

My last two clients weren't retail, so I don't think you always get this satisfaction from just any job, but knowing that we sell Garden Furniture, Pond Pumps or Aquarium stuff that's better quality and cheaper than others. I think it's probably a pseudo primal-instinct of victory over others (I say pseudo as I can find no evidence of Neanderthal man having sales, clearance or even any 'bundle' offers).

So, I love it there, it rocks big time. I encourage each and everyone of you to either come check us out in Darlington or click over to paddockfarm.co.uk and check us out. The website is still fairly young, but has a fresh new look, easier purchase options and a cool blog to go with it.

If any of my followers, friends, junkies etc. are interested in anything, let me know and I'll give you a little something extra off.

So that's me. Have I found the perfect job? For me, yes; I think I have.
